Matt Ruybal (@NewMexExpress) of Santa Fe, New Mexico recently switched to Royal Purple premium synthetic motor oil in his daily driver, a 94′ Geo Prizm with 203k miles. We recommended he try our new high mileage motor oil HMX that we introduced at the 2013 SEMA Show.

Available in 5W30 and 10IMG_20140413_093327W30 viscosities, HMX is formulated with zinc/phosphorus anti-wear additives and Royal Purple’s proprietary additive technology Synerlec® that minimizes wear and restores lost engine performance. What does that mean the high mileage vehicle owner? Extended drain intervals, reduced engine deposits and corrosion protection. “I really liked the design of the bottle. It made for quick and clean pouring, and the clear markings on the side made sure I put in the right amount,” said Ruybal.

Ruybal’s Geo was averaging 28.5 mpg prior to the oil change. In addition to the HMX motor oil, he added in a Royal Purple premium oil filter #10-2840. Royal Purple oil filters are produced with 100% synthetic micro-glass media for superior particle removal and is constructed with a high performance silicone anti-drain back valve, an extra-heavy duty rubber base gasket and ultra-strength filter housing for higher burst strength endurance. Why all of these premium components? Because if your vehicle is not under warranty and in good condition, you can extend your filter changes along with your oil changes to 12,000 miles if driven under normal operating conditions and using a premium synthetic motor oil like Royal Purple. “When I was installing the Royal Purple oil filter I felt like it was a sleeker fit than the brand I had been using previously,” said Ruybal.

He also tried our new fuel system cleaner and stabilizer Max-Clean. Combined with the HMX oil change and Royal Purple filter he saw an overall mpg increase from 28 to 31 mpg.

Ruybal first heard about Royal Purple from traveling on the Hot Rod Power Tour. “I appreciate that your products are American made. The unique purple color makes your products unmistakable and so I tried them in my rally racing, now I’m making sure my personal vehicles are bleeding purple as well,” he said.

Royal Purple located in Porter, Texas, produces a wide range of high performance lubricants for nearly every consumer and industrial application. Royal Purple’s founder John Williams was a pioneer in the development of high performance synthetic lubricants and collectively, Royal Purple’s formulators have more than 200 years of expertise in developing high performance lubricants. Royal Purple focuses exclusively on developing state-of-the-art lubricants. Unlike companies that primarily focus on fuel and other petroleum byproducts, Royal Purple’s sole mission is to develop products that significantly outperform other synthetic and mineral based oils.
