Winning with Royal Purple

If you’re a fan on any of our Royal Purple social media channels, you know that we like contests. Through the years we have hosted just about every type of contest possible from video and photo contests to simple sweepstakes. Every year we look for different and fun ways to keep our enthusiasts engaged.

Sometimes it’s just to give away some fun RP merchandise or product. There have also been some big item giveaways such as Royal Purple wrapped XBox game systems, tickets to the NHRA Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway and Texans game tickets.  We also partner with feature films like Grudge Match and Need For Speed and video games Driver SF and Ridge Racer Unbounded to promote Royal Purple brand integration. One of our most popular contests has been Show It Off at SEMA that sends a lucky winner, a guest and their vehicle as a Feature Vehicle to the “Not open to the public” mecca of automotive aftermarket  events, the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

In the beginning…

We kicked off our first Royal Purple contest with the Reel Wars in 2011. At that time video contests were regarded as campaigns where the participation rate was expected to be minimal at best. Wait, was that a challenge? Challenge accepted! Fifty entries later, after a popular online vote, the finalists were judged by a panel of judges and our winner was presented a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Check out the winning video below.

Current contests

This summer we’re hosting a Send Me To SEMA contest with our truck and trailer program. If you attend or participate in one of the events on the schedule, you can register to win a trip to attend the 2014 SEMA Show. This includes airfare, hotel, Royal Purple wear, entry into the show and you will be invited guests to a Royal Purple winner’s dinner. Remaining stops and opportunities to sign up are the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour traveling from Concord, NC to the Wisconsin Dells in seven days, Street Machine Nationals in DuQuoin, IL and Holley LS Fest. If you see our truck and trailer at any of these events run, don’t walk to enter for the random drawing that will take place in September after the Holley LS Fest.

We will continue the Show It Off at SEMA contest for 2014, but with a twist. Instead of a photo contest, it will be a video contest. Come on, you have to work a little bit to get to the “big show”! This will be open to cars, trucks and motorcycles. Details and official rules will be released in July, but it’s never too early to get those ideas going for your video!

We recently teamed up with one of our retail partners, NAPA Auto Parts for the Need For NAPA Know How Contest currently running on the NAPA Facebook page.

Participants in the contest will have the opportunity to win the Grand Prize A Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, one of three Magnaflow exhaust kits or one of three Royal Purple prize packs including motor oil, Max-Clean and Purple Ice.

The contest can be entered via the NAPA Facebook fan page by submitting your information and a “Know How Tip”. Contest ends April 8, 2014 and winners are selected by random drawing.
