Port of LA

Following a hectic consecutive two days of racing at the Port of Los Angeles, Sept. 20 and 21 for Rounds 7 and 8 of Red Bull Global Rallycross racing, Scott Speed (Andretti Motorsports) and Rhys Millen (Hyundai) came away with first place wins respectively. Meanwhile Ken Block (Hoonigan Racing) took the Championship points lead followed by Joni Wiman (Olsberg MSE) and Nelson Piquet Jr. (SH Racing). Vermont SportsCar/Subaru Rally Team USA driver and fan favorite Travis Pastrana who has been racing in the Rally America series this year also returned to the RBGRC track for the second time this season since the X Games in Austin earlier this summer.

The series then headed north up the coast to the DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, WA. Royal Purple/OMSE2 driver Steve Arpin was looking for redemption after missing the final in the second race at LA. Joining the Subaru Rally Team of Sverre Isachsen and Bucky Lasek was David Higgins who has also been competing in Rally America and won the 2014 Championship with co-driver Craig Drew. On one of the longest tracks the Red Bull GRC has raced this season, the Supercars lining up for the final were: Block, Wiman, Isachsen, Higgins, Tanner Foust (Andretti Motorsports), Brian Deegan (Rockstar) making his first start since Charlotte, Patrik Sandell (OMSE), Millen, Piquet and Speed. Jumping to the lead from the start, Isachsen earned the Subaru Rally Team USA’s first win of the season.

In Lites series action Mitchell DeJong (OMSE) captured the championship with his sixth race win of the season.

The Red Bull GRC will close out the 2014 season at Las Vegas on Nov. 5.
