Max-Tuff™ Synthetic Assembly Lubricant

Only stuff I use for years.

This was my first time using Royal Purple assembly lube on an engine build. I used to just use oil to lube bearings and cam lube for the cam lobes. My worry was that I wasn’t sure there’d be much lube left on the surfaces when I finally started the motor. I had seen the Royal Purple assembly lube on TV car shows many times, so I tried it out this time. This stuff is great! It’s sticky, with the consistency of warm honey, so you know it’s sticking to the surfaces. I am not worried about a dry start after using the RP lube on all the bearings and cam lobes. It’s worth the extra effort to have this on hand for any amateur engine build.

⁦This stuff works great. It helped me with building a complete engine. I used it on the bearings for the crankshaft connecting rods, and camshaft, and tons of other stuff. I used 90% of the bottle on the engine. I used it in conjunction with assembly lube when needed. Like the cam lobes.

Built a small diesel engine with this assembly oil and found it very nice to use and like it much better than the grease base assembly lubes. Really seems to hang on bearings and such and yet once the oil starts flowing it can wash away the assy lube. I will use in the future.

I assembled a zetec engine for a focus SVT and used max tough. I had an issue with my oil pump and actually started the car three times and couldn’t gain oil pressure. I expected the rod bearings to be ruined but when I inspected them they look almost new. They barely look like the crank has been rotated let alone started. I cannot recommend this enough and I’ll be telling everyone to use this.

I’m an experienced hobbyist level hot rodder/engine builder who has built just over a dozen engines in my home garage over the years. I consider this an outstanding assembly lube for new motor builds because it works very well and dispensing is super convenient (I love the “Elmers Glue” style bottle). As described in other reviews, it does stick to parts extremely well giving you peace of mind that everything is protected. Recently I used about 1/2 bottle on my 457 Pontiac build with great success. Afterwards I’ve been using the leftover 1/2 bottle as an amazing lubricant for everything from my bicycle to a squeaky garage door roller to making a mousetrap function more responsively! It’s a “must-have” in my garage now. Try it and see what I’m talking about.

Royal Purple products are noted for their top of the line and high quality products. This is one of them. Not only am I using this for assembly work but also using it for keeping bearing surfaces on equipment exposed to the elements from damage. The viscosity is just right for many applications. This lube stays on the bearing surfaces longer then conventional lubricants.

I’m a recent Royal Purple loyalist but with products like this I don’t see that changing anytime soon. This stuff is slippery yet sticky at the same time. When you put it on moving parts you can rest assured that the part will have good start up lubrication until oil can work its way in. I would recommend this stuff on anything you need to keep lubed.
